Move beyond traditional models and appreciate the depth of human complexity.

genArete was created by people working directly with 275 learners. Tools available to staff were inadequate to genArete meaningful outcomes for learners. They needed a tool that could pinpoint abilities in a precise way, guide effective learning plans and create outcomes that learners valued. The system grew from a practical need for assessments that:

  • begin with identifying abilities connected to a learner’s values, the context that matter most
  • embrace difference and earnestly ask who the learner wants to be
  • follow the learner through the lifespan capturing more complex skills as the person learns and grows
  • evolve with an ever-changing environment
  • deliver actionable plans that can be implemented, measured and changed over time

More precise information means
more time doing the things that matter.

genArete does assessment differently—prioritizing meaningful outcomes, individualized growth, and the complexity of real human lives. Users of the system are supported in helping learners build toward the things that matter to them and the people around them.

Alita’s Communication Breakthrough
Julian’s Journey to Love Learning
“We identified what skills were needed to spend some alone time, and they were mastered quickly. The historical restrictions for staff oversight were identified to be more about their comfort not the person’s actual skills.”
“My child was able to go to group classes for the first time.”
“I met attendance requirements to keep my job.”
“Person went from 0 mastered habilitation plans in 3 years to 2 mastered plans per year.”
“My family said they could understand my child at a recent family event, she is using words to ask for things.”
“Learner identified their “goal” to have a JDT was social pressure not really what they wanted.”

Built to help people move forward.

genArete brings together people, process, evidence, and technology to help teams understand ability and support meaningful progress.
